Mystery Murals
Are you looking for a team building exercise? A non-profit fundraiser? How about a mystery mural?
What is a mystery mural?
A mystery mural is an image that has been broken down into a grid of small numbered squares — essentially a giant paint by number. Each number of the grid represents a specific color found in the original image. Participants can take one of the paint cups and fill in its corresponding number, usually around 5-8 squares, on the canvas. For example if the paint being used was labeled with the number “4”, then the squares on the canvas that are painted must also have the number “4” on them.
The result is a large cohesive image that was created by a equally large number of participates, which really solidify the community aspect of the piece. It is difficult to tell what the image will be until it’s finished or almost finished, and it’s fun to encourage participants to guess.
